This course is for English/Spanish Court Interpreters. The student will learn the terminology used by the Expert Witnesses in cases involving Domestic Violence. At the end of the course, the student will be able to interpret the in-court testimony of expert witnesses called to testify in cases involving domestic violence, from the 911 Dispatchers who are called to authenticate the calls and testify as to excited utterances, the law enforcement officers who respond to the calls, detectives who investigate and interview suspects, victims and witnesses, crime lab personnel who collect the evidence, medical personnel who will testify as to the inflicted and defensive injuries, and psychologists, advocates and social workers, who will testify to the dynamics and cycle of violence and trauma.
